In an effort to comply with the Wichita Public School’s
Strategic Action Plan a task force was formed in September
2002. Strategy (6.D) calls for the implementation of a
comprehensive technology professional development program for USD
259 teaching staff. The focus group’s charge was to develop
technology guidelines for teachers and create the framework for a
system that provides professional development opportunities
specifically designed to address the USD 259 Teacher
Technology Standards.
Step one in the
accountability/evaluation process was the completion of the
Technology Standards for Teachers document. This document will
laid the foundation for the creation of teacher targeted staff
development program STEPs that addresses the larger goals of
the Strategic Action Plan. This framework creates a logical system for the acquisition of technology
proficiencies, while also measuring skill levels and mastery of
key technology proficiencies for educators.
The Instructional Technology
Department and all task force participants are very pleased to
bring the district this exciting new method of providing
technology enrichment for the teachers and staff of USD 259.
